2018
On June 23, 2014, Wilbert Wester stands at the door of the Zwolle Chamber of Commerce. He is about to register 'TransportingWheels B.V.'. An important moment. A moment that will determine the future of many current colleagues, but also that of our customers and transport partners. Wilbert has a simple goal: to make booking a car transport as easy as ordering a pizza. A wonderful mission. Since that day, car transport in Europe would never be the same again.
We expanded our carrier network and improved service coverage.
Transporting Wheels is getting considerable reinforcement: both financially, with a number of good colleagues, and with a beautiful office in IJsselmuiden. The foundation is being laid for what we now call our 'portal'. We start by simplifying the complex processes surrounding vehicle logistics. Making complex things simple is in our DNA.
Customers and partners are very positive about the value that Transporting Wheels adds to their business. After all, arranging their own transportation can be a day job. Transportation partners are excited because we are a reliable source of additional revenue. In short, we are on the rise. The team is growing with new colleagues.
We are ready to enter the German market, the largest market for car transport in Europe. In the sunny spring of 2022, we will open our office in Cologne. Growth forces us to focus more. In June, we decide to focus entirely on car transport. Meanwhile, the head office in IJsselmuiden is getting busier and busier. The team is reinforced with specialists in marketing, sales and IT. The number of transport orders more than doubles. This year, we celebrate Christmas with fifteen enthusiastic colleagues.
After the Netherlands and Germany, we are now going full steam ahead in France. The French team knows very well how to explain the simplicity of our service. This is catching on with smaller dealers and large car companies alike. Rapid growth means rapid expansion. In IJsselmuiden we are almost literally bursting at the seams. At the end of this year we will move with 34 colleagues to the spacious building on the Hanzelaan in Zwolle. A beautiful location, right behind the train station, with plenty of room for growth, a game room and our own bar. Transport orders are once again skyrocketing. As icing on the cake, we are named FD Gazelle 2023 and are among the fastest growing companies in the Netherlands.
The arrival of CEO Maarten Klanderman heralds a new era. His arrival does not bring a soft spring breeze, but a strong, persistent wind that continuously steers us in the right direction. We continue to improve our processes, grow to 60 colleagues, double the number of transport orders again, become FD Gazelle 2024, strengthen our focus on sustainability and obtain the ISO certifications 9001 and 27001.
New name, familiar mission: TransportingWheels becomes TransConnect! We're trading in our old identity for a fresh, modern look that suits us perfectly. What's not changing? Our dedicated team, our excellent service and our drive to make car transport easier. The year starts well with our nomination for FD Gazelle International 2025.
