On June 23, 2014, Wilbert Wester stands at the entrance to the Chamber of Commerce in Zwolle. He is about to register “TransportingWheels B.V.” A significant moment. A moment that will shape the future not only of many of his current colleagues, but also of our customers and transport partners. Wilbert has a simple goal: to make booking a car transport as easy as ordering a pizza. A wonderful mission. From that day on, car transport in Europe would never be the same again.

More than six months of hard work in the attic paid off on January 16, 2015, with an unforgettable moment: the first transport order was placed. The champagne was popped, and the first customer took advantage of a fast transport service. Hundreds of thousands of orders would follow. At that time, Transporting Wheels still transported everything on wheels. The focus on car transport came later.

Transporting Wheels is getting a major boost: financially, with the addition of several talented colleagues, and with a beautiful office in IJsselmuiden. We’re laying the groundwork for what we now call our “portal.” We’re starting by simplifying the complex processes involved in vehicle logistics. Making complex matters simple is in our DNA.

Customers and partners are very positive about the value Transporting Wheels adds to their businesses. After all, arranging transportation on your own can be a full-time job. Our transport partners are enthusiastic because we’re a reliable source of additional revenue. In short, we’re on the rise. The team is growing with new colleagues.

We are ready to enter the German market, the largest market for car transport in Europe. In the spring of 2022, we opened our office in Cologne. Our growth is forcing us to sharpen our focus. In June, we decide to focus entirely on car transport. Meanwhile, things are getting busier and busier at our headquarters in IJsselmuiden. The team is strengthened with specialists in marketing, sales, and IT. The number of transport orders more than doubles. This year, we celebrate our Christmas party with fifteen enthusiastic colleagues.

After the Netherlands and Germany, we’re now getting started in France as well. The French team is excellent at explaining the simplicity of our service. This resonates with both smaller dealerships and large automotive companies. Rapid growth means rapid expansion. In IJsselmuiden, we’re practically bursting at the seams. At the end of this year, we’ll be moving with 34 colleagues to the spacious building on Hanzelaan in Zwolle. A beautiful location, right behind the train station, with plenty of room for growth, a game room, and our own bar. Transport orders are once again increasing explosively. As the icing on the cake, we’ve been named an FD Gazelle 2023 and are among the fastest-growing companies in the Netherlands.

The start of CEO Maarten Klanderman’s leadership heralds a new era. His arrival brings not a gentle spring breeze, but a strong, steady wind that keeps steering us in the right direction. We are further improving our processes, growing to 60 colleagues, doubling the number of transport orders once again, becoming an FD Gazelle 2024, strengthening our focus on sustainability, and achieving ISO 9001 and 27001 certifications.
