Does a compound pickup or delivery affect the lead time?
Yes. Compound pickups and deliveries can require longer lead times than regular dealer locations. The main reasons are mandatory advance notification requirements — many compounds require 24, 48, or 72 hours' notice before a vehicle can be collected.
This means the transport must be planned at least that far in advance. In addition, the transporter must enter the planned pickup date, driver details, and truck license plate into the TransConnect platform before the aviso can be sent automatically.
Without this information, the pickup may not be accepted by the compound. Compounds such as auctions and logistics centres also use the aviso period to prepare vehicles for collection, meaning that attempting to collect a vehicle before the required notice period has elapsed is at the transporter's own risk.
Compound locations may also have stricter opening hours and access procedures than standard dealer locations, which can add further planning constraints.
