What is a waiting time charge?

A waiting time charge is a fee that applies when the carrier arrives at the agreed pickup location on the agreed date and time, but has to wait because the vehicle is not ready for collection. The first 30 minutes of waiting time are free of charge. After that, a charge applies for every subsequent 30-minute period.

Waiting time charges are designed to compensate the carrier for time lost due to circumstances outside their control.
